Hey, Texans – Is Our Tap Water About to Be Mixed with Sewage?

Water purification

While the recent 2019 Bi-annual Texas Legislature was gaveled to a close and the legislators were back-slapping and congratulating each other on a job “Well Done!” A fly was discovered in the soup, that could impact the health and well-being of all Texans.

It seems that legislators neglected to renew the requirement to regulate and license plumbers.

Now, any Tom, Dick or Harry can declare that they’re a plumber and offer to do plumbing work.

Plumbing Regulation and Licensing is no more!

The Plumbers Apprentice License that requires 4-years of class study and OJT to complete, is gone.

The Journeyman Plumber License That requires 2-years of study and OJT, is gone.

The Master Plumbers License, that require completion of the first two licenses before even appling to take the test, is gone.

And the consumer will be the recipient of that bad legislative error.

Think about it:

  • If your plumber hasn’t passed the a licensing test, how do you know that they’re at least minimally knowledgeable?
  • If your plumber hasn’t got a license, are they insured in the event they flood your home?
  • If the work your plumber does, doesn’t require a building permit, who is going to check the work they’ve performed?

What to do? Notify you State Senator and Representative that our health and welfare demand that plumbers be regulated and licensed.
