| Check This First, Before Calling For Service |
If your furnace or air conditioner will not start, here are some non-technical items you can check and possibly avoid the cost of a service call.
Seasonal Furnace Start-Up Clean or replace air filter. |

Check gas pilot; follow instructions on furnace if lighting is required. This does not apply to gas furnaces with spark ignitions or to homes with electric heat. |

Check switch in power line to furnace; it should be in the "ON" position. |

Set thermostat to the desired temperature and into the "HEAT" position. Set fan switch to "AUTO" for normal operation. |
| If your heating system fails: |

Check thermostat for proper setting. |
| • |
Check for dirty filters. |
| • |
Check that the blower door on the furnace is properly seated. Some furnaces have a safety switch that stops the unit from operating if the door is not securely installed. |

Be sure the power switch to the unit is the "ON" position. |
| • |
Check for tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse. |
| • |
If your furnace will still not operate, call Texas Air Doctors at 817-329-0334. |
| Air Conditioner Start-Up |

Check outside unit to ensure that there are no obstructions within 30-inches surrounding it. |
| • |
Check that the coils on the outside unit are clean. |
| • |
Clean or replace the air filter. |
| • |
Check switch in power line to the furnace or heater: it should be in the "ON". |

Set thermostat to desired temperature and turn switch to "COOL". Set fan switch to "AUTO" position. |
| If your air conditioning system fails to operate properly: |

Be sure the power to the unit is "ON". |
| • |
Check for dirty filters. |
| • |
Check that the blower door on the furnace / air handler is properly seated. Some furnaces / air handlers have an interlock switch that stops the unit from operating if the door is not installed properly. |

Check the thermostat for the proper setting. |

Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. |
